Hey guys, it’s been a long time coming (3 months to be precise) but the bookies have finally re-opened. A lot has changed since the last bookies FOBT videos, with many restrictions and procedures in place. The main changes were the Perspex screens between each FOBT and SSBT (self-service betting terminal), this increases the privacy which I didn’t mind, although there was a glare off the Perspex which the camera picked up. This betting shop (Coral) allowed for a maximum of 12 people in at any one time, and once at full capacity the doors had to be kept locked until someone leaves. Whilst I was in there, no more than seven people were in, so there wasn’t any rush or people waiting outside. Only three betting terminals were switched on, the fourth was deemed to be too close to the counter so had to remain off.
Aside from the barriers between the FOBT’s, there were several other restrictions in place. Bets had to be placed no less than 6 minutes before a race to prevent rushing and crowding at the counter. The bingo / 49’s was no longer being played on the screens, this was to stop people sitting and waiting between games, and there were no chairs next to each other so customers couldn’t sit with friends / strangers. There were plenty of signs detailing the new procedures and several cleaning stations. The toilets were closed, and no hot drinks were available.
During the video I played a mixture of slots, including a couple of my favourites, Rainbow Riches Pots of Gold and Super Star Turns. I also played Wild Knights, Burn ‘em Up 777 and Thai Flower. The RTP’s on the older slots has remained the same, around 94% on premium play, the new slots however had an RTP around 89% to 91% on £2 play. This decrease effects the game play with lower value bonuses and less base game wins.
I hope you enjoyed the video, let me know if you’ve been in any betting shops since they re-opened and what you thought.
